PSALM 127

Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain...Behold, children are a gift of the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward. Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one's youth. How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them; they will not be ashamed when they speak with their enemies in the gate.

Happy Birthday, Eliza!

We checked into room 602 at Ruby Memorial and I met my nurse for the day - Holly.  I absolutely LOVED her!  She had the most precious disposition that never wavered, no matter how busy she was.

They started the pitocin around 9AM and in no time I was having some pretty good contractions.  This may sound very strange, but I actually really enjoyed labor.  It was all so fascinating to me.  The Lord created a miraculous process.

The first line = Eliza's heartrate.
The second line = my contractions.

It was about an hour before the contractions became quite painful and for some reason I decided to tough it out a while.  Both sets of grandparents hung out with us all day and it was just a marvelous time.  Every 4-5 minutes I had to close my eyes and grip the bed handles, but otherwise we had a ball hanging out.

A basket of goodies Kyle and I put together for the L&D floor:

Between toughing it out a while, an epidural that took a left turn on the way in and waiting on the 2nd epidural to kick in, I ended up feeling it all through 10cm.  It wasn't horrible, but it wasn't a waltz in the park, either.  Again, I really just enjoyed every moment.  I was perfectly comfortable for the most difficult stage - PTL!
